useful things

scribd.com

By Manoj Thomas, TradeMark Media Programmer

Scribd.com, a collaborative and online-based application, serves as a huge library of documents for anybody to access. Not only can you upload papers, spreadsheets and pictures, but Scribd.com gives you the opportunity to display any of these documents in your web browser with a custom Flash PDF player. Furthermore, you can even publish any document online with its own public URL which can be indexed by search engines. So dig up those old papers, Power Point presentations and photo albums and start sharing on Scribd.com – or sit back and discover the thousands of docs already there!

Do the Right Thing

By Caroling Lee, TradeMark Media User Experience Director

Three websites devoted to making the world a better place. What better place than the Web to connect with an international community of do-gooders. Read all about it here:

goodmagazine.com – “media for people who give a damn”. All proceeds from the hard copy subscription go to the charity of your choice. I’m a subscriber and not only are they doing good, it’s a well-designed mag with great content.

treehugger.com – their goal is to drive sustainability and make it mainstream. With writers all over the world and ranked #32 out of 75,000,000 blogs (source: technorati.com), there has be some good info here.

worldchanging.com – connecting people to change the world. There’s an Austin chapter if you want to get involved.
