Useful Things
What are you doing? Twittering. Twitter was all the rage at SXSW Interactive this year. Think instant messenger in real time, all the time. Everything you want to say in 140 characters. Basically, you use it to post very short messages about your every move. At first it seemed silly – how much did I really need to know about what other people are up to? Then, I realized that there were entire events being scheduled on Twitter that I didn’t even know about. Try it – you’ll see what I mean.
Jajah
Jajah.com combines the internet with your phone lines so you can make inexpensive, long-distance calls. Set up an account, enter your phone number and the phone number you wish to call, and Jajah will connect the call. Some sample charges are 3.4¢/min to the United Kingdom, 3.9¢/min to China, and 6.4¢/min to Mexico. However, the charges may vary: a call to Germany in the past has been as cheap as 2.4¢/min but is currently 3.8¢/min. The interface makes paying, placing a call, managing the phone book, organizing a conference call, sending an SMS, and scheduling a future call very easy.
